A marijuana bust that ended up netting Pasco County Sheriff’s a search warrant led to a huge mushroom-growing operation. Undercover officers in Port Richey landed a search warrant after three marijuana deals and they were shocked at what they uncovered. Inside two separate homes they found more than 2,000 canisters of illegal hallucinogenic mushrooms.
Drug enforcement agents and deputies wearing haz-mat suits removed the illegal drugs from two Pasco County homes. Gerald Hannafin was arrested and investigators then went to his father’s home where more mushrooms were found. The older Hannafin told deputies he thought the mushrooms were legal. Authorities are now trying to locate who was going to buy the illegal drugs.
