A traffic stop in Tarpon Springs led to a man's arrest for possession of marijuana and cocaine with intent to distribute. He was pulled over for driving with a suspended license in Pinellas County.

Buju Banton’s Lawyer Claims Inhumane Treatment As The Reggae Star Awaits His Drug TrialIt has been a few months since any news came out surrounding the federal drug case against Grammy-nominated Reggae star Buju Banton. There is nothing to new report on Banton’s cocaine distribution charges but his lawyer is claiming that Banton is being mistreated in the Pinellas County Jail. According to the reggae musician’s Florida Criminal Defense Attorney, Banton is being treated inhumanely for nothing more than sharing his food with another prisoner. Pinellas sheriffs deny that assertion saying Banton is in “closed custody” because he violated prison rules and used food as currency. Banton’s defense lawyer is asking a judge to release his client on bail or move his cell to a wing that is not maximum-security.… March 22, 2010
St Pete Police Arrest Three Brothers And Their Mother During A Drug RaidSt Pete police arrested seven people including four members of one family during a drug raid this weekend. According to TampaBay.com, three Casteel brothers were arrested on charges ranging from possession of crack cocaine, felony possession of marijuana, operating a drug house and being a felon in possession of a gun. The mother of the three Casteel brothers was also arrested for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor charge. The drug raid and subsequent arrests drew a large crowd in Wildwood Heights, which led to a brawl in the street that resulted in three arrests including Casteel’s mother. Prescription Drug Fraud And Trafficking Charges Filed in Pinellas Against Twin BrothersPinellas County Sheriff’s arrested three people on charges of prescription drug fraud, two of which were twin brothers. TBO.com is reporting that Alberto and Aldo Jogan have been charged with conspiracy to traffic in oxycodone. Aldo Jogan’s girlfriend was also arrested on trafficking charges. Other charges for the brother’s included possession of cocaine, prescription fraud and possession of other controlled substances. According to the newspaper report, the trio created fake prescription forms, forged signatures and then had others fill the prescriptions for them. Once they had the painkillers in hand, they made arrangements to sell the pills. The three suspects were on the radar of investigators since 2008 but it wasn’t until one of the three was the victim of a recent home invasion at a Treasure Island motel that police were able to locate the group.… March 17, 2010
Mother High On Illegal Painkillers Allegedly Leaves Her Baby On The Side Of A Busy RoadClearwater police are claiming that a woman on probation for credit card fraud and failure to appear in court was so high on illegal painkillers that she left her two-year-old on the side of a busy road on a night when temperatures outside were as low as 54 degrees. Jamie Michelle Campbell has been charged with child neglect, possession of a controlled substance, violation of probation and tampering with evidence. She was booked into Pinellas County Jail. According to TampaBay.com after Campbell was taken to her probation officer for the child neglect charges she tried to dispose of illegal painkillers in the back of the police cruiser and also in her probation officer’s toilet while being tested for drugs use.… March 17, 2010
Cocaine Trafficking Charges Filed Against St Pete Man On Probation For Federal Drug ConvictionAuthorities identified Justin Richardson as a major coke dealer in St Pete and now the 29-year-old is under arrest. According to TBO.com, Richardson, who is on probation for federal drug charges, will be back in federal court to face new cocaine trafficking charges. Richardson is scheduled to be in U.S. District Court in Tampa today for a bail hearing on charges of conspiracy to possess cocaine with intent to distribute. Richardson is currently on probation from a conviction in Texas for sending five pounds of pot and several kilos of cocaine to St Pete via DHL in 2004. The cocaine ring has connections to Mexico and Sarasota according to police reports and Richardson also reportedly sold a Tampa man upwards of 10 kilos of cocaine over the last several months.… March 12, 2010
Clearwater Man Busted For Selling Oxycodone To Undercover CopA Clearwater man wanted on numerous Florida arrest warrants for home invasion and dealing in stolen property was busted with cocaine while selling oxycodone to an undercover police officer Friday. Charles J. Corno was charged with resisting a law enforcement officer, possession of cocaine andoxycodone and sale of oxycodone. He is being held in Pinellas County Jail. According to TampaBay.com the drug deal took place just after midnight. Corno sold the pills to an undercover Clearwater police officer. He was about to be arrested but took off. Police caught up with him after a short chase on foot. Corno has pending charges for robbery and aggravated assault in connection with the alleged home invasion.… March 12, 2010

Tallahassee Lawmakers Go From Bong Tax To Bong Ban ProposalSt. Petersburg democrat Darryl Rouson was pushing for a state tax on bongs, the water pipes used to smoke marijuana and tobacco. The proposal has now become a bill that would partially ban the sale of bongs according to Bay News 9. Rouson proposed the bill in hopes of somehow lessening drug crime by making it harder to buy bongs. The original proposal was to put a tax on the glass, plastic and wood pipes used for filtering tobacco through water but the new bill would ban any store from selling a bong unless they make 75% of their revenue from tobacco sales.… |
