A top major league baseball prospect was involved in a Clearwater drug bust Friday and charged with felony possession of cocaine. Tyson Gillies is a member of the Philadelphia Phillies organization and is considered one of the clubs top prospects. His arrest took place Friday morning in Clearwater. Florida Marijuana Laws – Florida Head Shop Owners File Lawsuit In Hillsborough To Ban The “Bong Bill”

In an effort to slow down the use of marijuana in Florida, lawmakers decided to pass a law that would make it more difficult for businesses to sell bongs and pipes that are commonly associated with smoking pot. With the new law is getting ready to go into effect on Thursday, owners of smoke shops or head shops as they are often called are fighting as 26 got together to file a lawsuit in Hillsborough County. The law forbids stores from selling pipes or bongs that derive 25% or more of their revenue from the sale of devices used to smoke or don’t derive 75% of their annual revenue from tobacco products.…

There aren’t many excuses the police haven’t heard when it comes to a drug possession arrest and selling marijuana due to a down economy is not a new one. A Florida man who accused his son of aggravated assault with a crossbow recanted his statement and said he made it up while under the influence of the pain pill Oxycodone. Salman Mirisha, a 55-year-old resident of South Pasadena, said he took the incorrect amount of the prescription pain killer and then made up the story because he was upset at his 19-year-old son. Massimo Mirisha was arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly pointing an unloaded crossbow at his father from about six feet away. The explosion of prescription drug crime in Tampa has led the Hillsborough County Commission to pass an emergency ordinance to try and stem the flood of illegal prescription drugs in Tampa. The commissioners passed an ordinance to regulate the county’s pain management clinics, which are believed to be a major source of the prescription drugs that make it onto the streets. The new regulations were passed unanimously and will require pain management clinics in the county to be inspected and will also demand they get a license.
