Pasco Marijuana Arrest Leads To Discovery Of More Than 2,000 Canisters Of Illegal Mushrooms

A marijuana bust that ended up netting Pasco County Sheriff’s a search warrant led to a huge mushroom-growing operation. Undercover officers in Port Richey landed a search warrant after three marijuana deals and they were shocked at what they uncovered. Inside two separate homes they found more than 2,000 canisters of illegal hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Drug enforcement agents and deputies wearing haz-mat suits removed the illegal drugs from two Pasco County homes. Gerald Hannafin was arrested and investigators then went to his father’s home where more mushrooms were found. The older Hannafin told deputies he thought the mushrooms were legal. Authorities are now trying to locate who was going to buy the illegal drugs.…

Brooksville Marijuana Grow House Operation Nets Second Arrest

Yesterday we talked about a Brooksville woman who was arrested for operating a marijuana grow house in an effort to pay her bills, which in a larger sense isn’t everyone selling drugs in one way or another using the money to pay off bills? Today though Hernando County deputies have arrested a second person involved in themarijuana cultivation.

According to TampaBay.com, Jeffery Scott Wagner was arrested on drug cultivation charges in connection with the marijuana operation run out of the house of Rhonda Quince, who was charged previously. Quince bought the three-bedroom home fir $130,000 in 2006. The story on TampaBay.com…

Mother Who Supplied Teen Son With Oxycodone Pleads Guilty To Contributing To His Fatal Overdose

Linda Courtright is facing 20 years to life in federal prison after pleading guilty to a drug distribution charge in Tampa today. The 36-year-old admitted to supplying her 15-year-old son with the oxycodone that eventually killed him in a drug overdose. Nicholas Block was found to have oxycodone, cocaine and alprazolam in his system when he died.

The story surrounding Block’s death is as sad as it is shocking. Block had already been in trouble with the law following a marijuana charge but the details of what took place in a Budget Inn Motel on the night of his death are just astounding.…

Marijuana Grow House In Brooksville Started By A Woman Looking To Pay Her Bills

Rhonda Quince had an empty room in her house and a pile of bills. Instead of taking in a renter she decided to turn the room into a marijuana grow house. The Brooksville woman was arrested on drug charges when Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies searched her home and found 169 marijuana plants.

According to ABC Action News, Quince allowed the deputies to search her Brooksville home. She also apparently admitted to growing pot and selling it in an effort to help pay her bills. The plants were valued at $150,000 and were in different stages of development under hydroponic lights.…

Lakeland Trafficking Charges Filed Against Two Men With 10 Pounds Of Meth And Guns

A pair of men were arrested outside a Haines City mobile home when investigators found them in possession of two pounds of methamphetamine. David Flores and Raul Magana-Herrera were pulled over when investigators discovered the drugs. That led to a search of the mobile home where eight more pounds of meth and guns were discovered. The men were both charged with trafficking in meth.

The men were the focus of a drug task force investigation according to TBO.com. Agencies involved in the investigation included FDLE, the Polk County Sheriffs and police from Haines City, Bartow, Lakeland and Auburndale.…

Prescription Fraud Sentences Handed Out By Federal Judge In Pinellas

A group of five people involved in a Pinellas prescription drug ring were sentenced to prison terms ranging from nearly four years to seven years. The prescription fraud involved the painkiller oxycodone. All five of the participants pled guilty to charges of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of oxycodone.

The prescription fraud involved the manufacturing of fake prescriptions that had valid DEA numbers on them. The group would supply cell phone numbers to the doctors who allegedly wrote the prescriptions but the calls went to co-conspirators not doctors. The fake prescriptions for the painkillers were submitted at three Pinellas pharmacies.…

1,200 Pounds Of Marijuana Found In Trailer Seized In Davenport

Sheriff’s offices in Polk and Seminole counties, FDLE and the Drug Enforcement Agency were all involved in an investigation that netted a drug bust of 1,200 pounds of marijuana. A trailer containing the pot was seized in Davenport and was the result of an investigation that authorities say dismantled two Florida marijuana trafficking operations with ties to Mexico and California.

Seminole County sheriff’s claim the investigation has led to 40 arrests. The first salvo was fired by law enforcement when they seized 600 pounds of high quality pot and $240,000 in cash along with cocaine and firearms earlier in March.…
